Zxyra (aka Dr. Melissa C. Selinger) is a NASA-award-winning neuropsychopharmacology research scientist of psychedelics and now full-time artist.

Her work is influenced by neuroscience, the psychedelic experience, and the human brain, exploring the trauma of being a #metoo survivor and theapeutic release of creating art from suffering and loss, mental health including depression, cPTSD, anxiety, loneliness, childhood poverty and the subequent death of her single mother to alcoholism, heartbreak and longing for love and connection, and the human experience, but also the wonders of life, love, and inspired by the awe-inspiring mysteries of the universe and sentient consciousness.

Her early artistic influences include Salvador Dali, MC Escher, Gaudi, mathematical patterns in nature such as the Fibonnaci sequence and Mandelbrot fractals, and the "horror vacui" ink style.
